Funny-Annoying Computer Gripes

I love computers and technology, I really do. But even for skilled users, at times they can be frustrating to use in rather funny, entertaining ways... where the simpler, cleaner, less frustrating answer is right in front of you, but the vendor hasn't quite implemented it yet. In light of this, I've decided to start documenting some of the gripes I have with computers and consumer-based computer software. The gripes can and will apply to all computer platforms and operating systems, but I will give special attention to the Microsoft Windows platform and PC hardware, which over the years has caused me more grief and lost data than I can possibly recollect right now.

Our journey stars in 1982 with a VIC-20 and its massive 4kb RAM environment and 300 kbit/sec modem. No, let's not start there (well before the Web was even imagined). Let's just start in 2007 and move forward to today. Let us all be thankful that the list below is quite small. Microsoft team, you're getting the break here because I wasn't able to document all the lost data and spontaneous Windows crashes I had during my university years, which resulted in lost research, lost papers and other lost information..

I went almost two years without updating this page. Clearly I haven't had too many gripes, right? I switched to a Mac for my primary desktop, FreeBSD for my servers, and Windows XP for my work. For what I use them for, they just work. And all three have their useful features.
