Jan 9, 2007. Apple announces the iPhone.

This looks cool. It's a phone with a large touch screen. It's also an iPod for music. It has WiFi and Bluetooth, plus the cellular data standards for Internet websites and e-mail. It has the Safari web browser and a full POP/IMAP e-mail client, plus a zoomable screen that supports Google Maps and the integrated GPS.

The phone has three very cool sensors that switch the screen automatically into portrait/landscape mode when you rotate it; a proximity sensor that turns off the screen when the phone is next to your ear; and an ambient light sensor that adjust the screen brightness automatically. It also has an iPod docking port on the bottom, which means it's very expandable too. Lots of the technologies here are Apple exclusive, some being featured on my Macbook Pro laptop that I use. Best of all, this phone runs OS X, the same system as my home computer. It's basically a mobile phone/iPod/e-mail/web handheld computer. Too bad it's not available until June at the earliest.
